Dear Augustine
Apologies for the late response.
In responding to your email, We state as follows:-
1. Ms Calorine Sosola is indeed our tenant on house number MB/027 since
15th May, 1997.
2. Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) increases rentals for its tenants on
their individual anniversaries (with 10%) in line with the tenancy
agreement which runs for a period of twelve months. This is subject to
renewal of the said tenancy.
3. In February, 2025, government approved a rental increase above the
normal 10% applied on each year's anniversary in response to the current
market conditions. As such, MHC revised rentals for its tenants,
effective with February anniversaries.
4. Ms Calorine Sosola's anniversary falls in February and her rental was
revised to MK44,000. A letter of notice was sent and as a practice, she
was expected to visit the office for renewal of her tenancy. The
renewal of tenancy is an interactive meeting, where tenant is free to
ask for clarification on areas he/she lacks understanding.
